Tonya Poindexter serves as Board Chair of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (NVBCC), where she leads with a focus on collaboration, advocacy, and service. In this role, she works alongside the Board of Directors, staff, and partners to expand opportunities for Black-owned and underserved businesses, ensuring they have a seat at the table in the region’s economic growth.

Before stepping into chamber leadership, Tonya served for 21 years at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where she gained extensive experience in structure, strategy, and leadership. Her federal career sharpened her ability to manage complex programs, create systems that bring order to challenges, and mentor colleagues in high-stakes environments. Those skills continue to shape her approach to leading community organizations and building sustainable pathways for growth.

In addition to her work with NVBCC, Tonya is the Chief Operating Officer of Virginia Minority Chambers, Inc., where she advances statewide initiatives in workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. She is also the founder of The Write Touch LLC, a firm specializing in strategic communications, grant writing, and professional development, helping both organizations and individuals tell their stories and achieve measurable results.

She is committed to creating opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and empowering the next generation of leaders.
