Press Release NVBCC Collaborates with Urban

Alexandria, VA – In a landmark move aimed at empowering the Black business community in Northern Virginia, the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (NVBCC) announces a strategic alliance with Urban One, Inc.'s local Washington DC radio division, known as Radio One. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in NVBCC's mission to enhance the visibility and growth of Black-owned businesses within the region. A celebration to honor the start of this collaboration is set for February 20, 2024, at 3:00 pm, taking place at Cowo & Crèche in Alexandria, VA. This promises to be an event that significantly enriches the experience of NVBCC members.

Tonya Poindexter, Board Director and Communications Chair at NVBCC expressed her excitement about the collaboration: "Today marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for NVBCC and Urban One, Inc., embodying our mutual commitment to uplifting and empowering Black-owned businesses. This alliance is a testament to our dedication to these businesses, aiming to significantly enhance their media presence and support through Urban One, Inc.'s extensive network."

Brandon Edwards, Marketing Account Executive at Urban One, Inc., shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration: "I'm absolutely ecstatic about this collaboration. The synergy between Urban One DC and the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce is undeniable. Both organizations are deeply committed to the representation and advancement of Black business and culture. This initiative is designed to provide Black businesses and NVBCC members access to premium marketing resources and channels, marking a significant step forward in our joint efforts."

This transformative collaboration will see Urban One, Inc. playing a pivotal role in amplifying the voices of Black-owned businesses across Northern Virginia. It aims to address the historical visibility gap faced by minority-owned businesses, offering a platform for these businesses to be seen, heard, and understood more broadly than ever before.
